Seniors Taken For a Bath
My arthritic knees have been preventing me form getting in and out of a bathtub for many years. I must depend on taking showers to bathe. I, for several years, would often pass a billboard that advertised walk-in bathtubs for us folks who have trouble getting around. I decided to give in and invest in a new walk-in bathtub for my new handy-cap accessible bathroom.
I was so excited. I drove down to Mount Dora to The Walk-In Bathtub Store Inc. 348 North Alexander Street on 8/18/08. I was shown several tubs and was quickly caught up in a hard-sale strategy. The Alexander walk-in bathtub, was an In-house manufactured walk-in tub. Everything about the Alexander sounded wonderful but, they didn't have this tub on the showroom floor.
The contracted Alexander Tub manufacturer was located in a tiny, dirty little fiberglass/boat shop. I sat in the tub. The tub felt comfortable but, I was put off by the hard-sale that she was putting down—it was almost desperate. We drew up the sales contract. The following day, I paid, $4,950.00 cash. The full sales tax exempt price of the tub. I obtained a doctor's prescription for the tub.
Some where in the middle of September, I called down to The Walk-In Bathtub Store to inform them that I needed the tub delivered. I had to have my sister contact them form a different phone number just to find out that the business had been sold. Monica Kosto, gave her the number for the new owner, James Kirk Isenhour. Mr. Isenhour claimed, not to know what we were talking about. After that, it was, I'll have it in two weeks. He would declared this many times to my installation contractor and my locally retained, Mount Dora, attorney upon each direct inquiry. Presently, I have a whole in the wall of my bathroom, $600.00 attorney's fees, $334.00 court costs, and the original $4,950.00.
