Charging credit card with no authorization

Nov. 26 2008 my husband Jim Schmit ordered a DVD online from this comp. With free shipping. They sent a blue ray instead, on Nov. 29 2008. We called to let them know, and we were told to send it back (at our expense) and we would be sent the correct item, but we now had to pay for shipping. We chose to keep the item. We were charged 14.98 for the item, (this fee is not the problem, since we kept the item) then we were charged 1.00 fee (we don't know why) on Nov. 26, and then we were charged 29.95 for a membership fee. All of these fees going on my credit card. I contacted this company asking what these fees were and was told any info had to be given to my husband, so Jim went to the phone. He canceled the "membership" (which he did not join), was given a confirm. # and told my account would be credited. We received an email the next day confirming this cancellation. It wasn't. When I called this comp. Back, they had no record of this cancellation, so would not credit my charge acct. I gave them the conf. # and still refused to give me any info., it had to be Jim. I told them the conf #, and now Jim had nothing to do with this, it was my credit card they charged these fees to and they had to deal with me. After arguing with this comp. And telling them I would contact you, the BBB, my credit card comp. And the atty. Gen., they finally credited my acct. On Dec 3 for the 29.95. I now have another charge for 1.00 on my credit card, and they refuse to talk to me, again, we don't have any membership with them, and they refuse to credit my credit card. They will only talk to Jim because he "joined" this comp. Membership, even though he didn't. Now I am concerned that this company has my credit card # and feels they can charge my credit card when ever they feel like doing so. What can be done to prevent this from happening to me again, or to anybody else?
