Overcharging and Blaming the Customer - Check your Bill

I am one who never check my bill. I just pay. Recently, I discovered that Direct TV has been overcharging for converter boxes. This overcharging has been going on for months. Apparently, when you switch old receivers for new receivers, you the customer, need to tell them to drop the old receivers from your account. If you don't they continue to charge $5.00 a month. I was being charged for seven (7) receivers when I have five (5) and they really should have been charging me for only four (4) since one is part of the standard package.

I was a bit bothered to learn that this is how they operate (ripping off consumers). I feel that it is there responsibility to remove the old receiver at the time they add the new one. When I called to inform them of my discovery regarding the charge the customer service rep (Pauline, emp# 1000312703) blamed mesaid it was my fault because I wasn't reading my billthey gave me a credit but wanted to give me back my credit over a 12 month period.

First off, cable is extremely high so why do I want to wait 12 months for my moneysecond. I will never fully be able to recoup all of my money since I should not have ever been charged for one of the boxes since it was part of the standard package. I have been a customer for years. If this happened to me, you can bet its happening to othersDirect TV is getting over on unsuspecting consumers. All I can say is read your bills...
