Deceased mom sent to collections

My wife's 85 year old mom passed away last week. Mom's LL Bean card had a $1,000.00 balance, and was due the same day she died. We contacted the lawyer in charge of Mom's estate, who told us not to pay mom's bills out of our own money, but to advise the companies of her death, and the payments would be settled with the will. My wife advised LL Bean of mom's death. She was immediately sent to collections, and a very rude woman, who kept asking for an immediate payment, and finally hung up on my wife. Mom's credit was outstanding, by the way.

Now. A day later on Christmas Eve, collections calls again demanding to speak to my wife about immediate payment, and I mean DEMANDING. LL Bean, you old and venerable company... You have sold your soul to credit companies like MBNA. But of course this means nothing to any of the LL Bean company employees personally, your just innocent workers at a big company, right??? Merry christmas.
