I contacted select portfolio along with my daughter concerning help with her mortgage (my husband is also on the mortgage) and was told to send in a financial statement. Today when i spoke with one of their "service" representatives, i was informed that they are a "servicing" company only and do not write mortgages or any other loans. I was told to contact my local FHA office if i needed any help with the mortgage. So exactly what are they? And exactly who wrote and holds the mortgage??? I wonder. What about anyone else out there? Can someone shed some light on this??? Or is it that thousands of homeowners are in the same boat - don't know who holds our mortgages or who to contact for help. Oh and they did say that they would not consider rewriting the mortgage till 2011 when it comes up for review. Contradictory, wouldn't you say?
