Earlier this week, my child, was contacted on her cell phone by JRP Talent agency and told she had been "selected" for an audition. I told her to hang up the phone because I believed it was a scam. She insisted it wasn't and put me on the phone to confirm. My first question was "how much will it cost" and I was told I should "never" pay for an audition.
I traveled to Chicago on Sunday morning with a very excited child riding shotgun. We arrived on time, were greeted by the staff, given forms to fill out and put into a room with a video of success stories.
My child was called in for her audition (no parents allowed!) and was confident she had done a good job and was hopeful she would be picked. After a few moments we were both invited for an interview and it was then that I/we (it was only I who heard) learned about the fees! IF chosen, the cost would range from $2,100 to $3,400! I was asked if I objected to "anything on the page"? Come on! Raise a childs hopes and then tell them "you're not worth it". I am sure I will get a call tomorrow telling me she has been "picked"... Just what I need, another reason to be the bad guy.
SHAME on you John Robert Powers! I asked about fees and you LIED!!! Do you really expect young people to come in excited about making it big, audition and leave it at that? My childs heart will be broken and you leave me to pick up the peices...
