I signed up for Personal training services with Body By Geoff. They asked me to sign a 1 year commitment with them. I did so. I was told that they would work with me to find a trainer that I liked and felt comfortable working with.
A short time later, my trainer quit. The trainer that they had for me next watched tv while I was training with him and talked on the phone often during our training sessions. I though this was unprofessional. When I asked for a different trainer I was referred to their other location 12 miles away. I went there for training for a month but was not satisfied because it was too far away. When I asked to be transferred back to their other location I was told that trainers do not grow on trees and that they would not allow me to work out at the location that I initially signed up at.
After speaking with the owner, James, and the other owner, Geoff (his son), I was told that it was either their way or no way. I was personally insulted by comments about my weight and comittment to training. I was told that I am fat, unhappy and alone and my problems were not their concerns. I actually cried after this conversation.
I am the customer. I have never been treated with such disrespect in my life. After this conversation, I asked to cancel my contract. This request was initially denied. Then James, the owner, told me that he would let me out of my contract if I paid a cancellation fee. Without waiting for a response, he charged me that fee, $375 and another month, $375 for a total of $750. Then he stopped returning my calls.
I had to cancel my credit card to stop him from further charges to my card and filed two billing disputes with my credit card company. The billing dispute process has so far taken 4 months with no end in sight. During the dispute process, the owner of Body By Geoff sent in a "signed" reciept as evidence that I agreed to these charges. Let me assure you, I never signed any such reciept. I have also had to read offensive e-mails and notes that have been sent back and forth from the owners to my credit card company during this time. Needless to say it has been a nightmare. I have even called the local authorities to file charges against them for signing my name without authorization.
I would strongly warn you against ever signing up with this company or entering into any agreement with them. What sort of company treats their customers like this? Please do yourself a favor, when considering a personal training company. Do not consider working with Body By Geoff. You will save yourself a lot of headache and frustration.
