On march 10, we picked up our truck. A ford f250,1996 from a repair shop in Tehachapi California. It had broken down a week and 2 days before and we had an engine installed by Don's Protechnology auto repair in Tehachapi, Ca. 93561. They recommended two possible engines the cost and warantee were factors in selecting Jasper.
On the drive home following the repair the engine knocked noticeably. On arriving home I went to my mechanic, Eric's automotive in Cloverdale, Ca. 95424. He is a trained ford mechanic and has worked on various vehicles for me for awhile. He contacted Jasper to ask technicians for help in resolving the problem. He was unable to reduce the ping by much. I drove the truck sparingly because of excessively high fuel prices. We only took one trailer trip of about 50 miles on mostly level land and the truck pinged and seemed very low in power.
In Sept. I noticed it was running particularly rough and planned to take it in for a checkup. On October 22 Eric began working on the truck with little success. For the next month he periodically did different tests, worked with technicians from Jasper having him do various things to prove that those things were what was wrong, not the engine. Nothing helped the noise nor the power. They finally agreed to send the engine which he replaced and it has worked fine, powerwise and noisewise. His bill for labor and parts was roughly $2300 and he has been paid.
I contacted Jasper throughout the process and they indicated a willingness to help. Then I called in December and was told they wouldn't pay any of the costs. I have contacted an attorney and I will do my best to spread this story. They sent me 4 pictures of piston heads with dark small marks supposedly blow back that somehow got in my engine.interestingly the truck had been driven a grand total of 3,616 miles since the first engine was replaced. A Joke has been played on the customer Beware.
