Taurus currently purports to offer a $75 rebate on ANY 1911. At least, that is what it says on their home page and rebate coupons.
When you try to collect, it is a different matter. Then they explain that ANY really doesn't mean any, at least the way you and I define any.
I think a lot of people are being screwed by them. As soon as the word rebate came out of my mouth, I was placed on hold for 15 minutes, then a nice young man told me I had been ripped off.
The helpful young man told me to just ignore what it said about ANY 1911 being eligible for the rebate, and showed me how to click through 4 or 5 pages to find very tiny print that identified models that might actually qualify. Don't believe it until you get a check. The dealers help this deceit along by printing you an extra receipt to mail in for the rebate.
I would not have bought from Taurus if it wasn't for the rebate. Now that they have ripped me off, they have lost my business for good. I just could never trust a company that was this dishonest.
Has anyone else been ripped off by these crooks? How many does it take to make a class action lawsuit worthwhile?
