United Colors of Benetton
Defective product

On 12/20/07 i bought a sweater at full price at the Benetton Store at Southpoint Mall in Durham. Today Jan. 2,09, was the first opportunity for me to return the item. I was happened to have to do business on Capital Blvd.in Raleigh so I chose to go to the Triangle Towne Center mall cause there was a Benetton store there. The sweater I bought had a hole in the back of the seam. I did not see this until I wore it and a friend pointed it out to me. I decided once the chaos of the holidays subsided that I would return it. I kept the receipt, tag and the sweater the way I bought it. Danielle, the manager at the store in Raleigh refused to give me my refund and would not let me talk to anyone thadt she answered to. It was a dead end. I insisted that she call the Durham store and the manager there was out. She said she could not give out any employees working hours even the managers; but this would be who I'd need to speak with. I told her I was not from the area and she still would not give the district manager's information. She refused to give me any contact information to further discuss my quandary. I bought this item as full price not a sale price. I then called the Durham store and spoke to Stella. She said that I'd have to see Maria, apparently a manager there. Stella did not have any problems giving out Maria's schedule because she understood that I had to drive over an hour and a half to get to Southpoint. Please be reminded that this sweater was merely $62 and some change. Yet I was having issues about the defective product. I shop at JCrew, Lacoste, Neiman, Banara Republic, Guess, Bebe and much more and never once I have experience such a fuss over a sweater that is less than $100 and I have all tags and receipts. It was horrendous how Danielle basically insuated that I caused the hole because it was not in its original state. I told her I drove to Raleigh because the sweater is not what it's suppose to be. Stella is to Maria that I reported the complaints today cuz tomorrow I may not be able to drive to Southpoint. Tomorrow marks the 14 days. It's unbelievable to me that Danielle is pushing me to keep a defective products so that I could spread the words that Benetton not only sells cheaply made products but the company trains their employees not to follow the basic sale motto "the customer is always right". Why in the world would I pay full price for a sweater then put a hole in it and have to drive 1-2 hrs. To get a refund. Time is money and money is time. I would be a bafoon to do such.
