My husband and I were shopping at Wal-mart all together we spent over $100.00 and most of it was little cheap items so we had a full buggie of stuff. We had a cheap sweeper and a case of Mountain dew on the bottom of the cart and as we checked out at the self check out register we had forgotten to scan the sweeper and pop. We did start toward the exit and as I was reviewing the receipt as I always do I noticed we had forgot the sweeper but before we could turn around the self absorbed security officer approached and asked us to step into a room.
My husband got upset when the want-a-be cop remarked that we got caught, and my husband raised his voice and got a little disrespectful which was to insulting for the great prevention officer so he then said he was just going to call the sheriff. We didn't care because we were innocent, we had two of our 6 children with us and being right after Christmas with the pressure of a divorce we were currently in, on top of just finding out my husband has a deadly disease we just made an innocent mistake and forgot! We never dreamed we would be charged with Theft and complicity to theft!
The sheriff who came out made the remark as I was signing the summons that I needed to go to court and he looked at me from the corner of his eyes and with a different tone to his voice he said and PLEAD NOT GUILTY! But then he said well I can't tell you how to plea but just make sure you show up.
After feeling as if the sheriff thought this was stupid even having to write this ticket based on the fact that we had plenty of money on hand as well as alot of purchased items and this whole supposed crime had a total of $41.00 we now feel like we have been bullied by Wal-mart! That day the prevention officer acted as if he was God and we really needed to be kissing his butt fast and it was like he wanted us to know that he was calling the shots as he puffed out his chest and made remarks that we were not slick enough! Something needs to be done about these pretenders who for what ever reason feel like they make the laws and can do what they please!
As we waited on the sheriff my husband asked if we could go ahead and pay for the sweeper and the pretender said " nope " and you will also be ban from all wal-marts. I said well if I am convicted! And he said no your ban anyway. I just couldn't believe he could do that and I said, we will see. And then he said Wal-mart has the right by law to allow who they want in their store with no visible reason, which then he said you could come in my store and I could not like your attitude and ban you! It seems like to me Wal-mart thinks they make their own rules and they are above the laws of our great nation!
If there is anyone out there who has had this done to them please we need to come together and show wal-mart that they can't get away with these terrible acts of injustice when in the Greatest nation on earth! One thing is bigger than Wal-marts stock market reports and that is the voice of the people! Help me help everyone!
