I am a 70 year old retiree. I chose to live here because of my poor health. I am suffering from severe asthma and bronchial problems.
I have been banking with Bank of America for over 20 years that ended in 2007 because I closed my account. I have never owed Bank of America except for a mortgage on my condo which I paid in full in 2007. My credit was excellent until I closed my account.
When I closed my account, I received a check of $3,477.61 representing the balance of my account. I relied on the clerk to mark my account account closed. I was assuming that the insurance premium of $1.72 which was being debited to my account was also cancelled having closed my account.
I was confident that my banking relationship with Bank of America ended when I walked out of the bank—that my account is closed.
Last September in checking my credit report, I found out that there is a charged off account from Bank of America, that was sold to West Asset Purchasing. The amount has now ballooned to $363 balance.
I do not owe anything from Bank of America. I have not benefited at all with any transaction involving Bank of America. What they did to a poor 70 year-old retiree like me, is reprehensible, heinous, and cruel. They have taken advantage of me.
In order to close the account, I flew to California, now my credit is ruined. I need somebody to help me. I have to refinance my house because of the high interest rate, now I cannot do it. Please help me.
