I was searching for grants for my business, and came across the Grant University. I was curious, so I sent for the "FREE" DVD, and paid 1.98 shipping. I did not receive the DVD, and forgot about the company until 3 weeks later when I received my credit card statement.
There was the $1.98 charge, and also a $69.95 charge from the same company. I called and got some foreign person whom I could not even understand. I must have argued with her for over an hour until I least I was able to get her to take me off their monthly charge list. So I contacted my credit card company and they were able to remove the $69 charge.
Now, on my next credit card statement (I have not used this card since then), is another charge of $29-something from a company called IWB Club. This time, a company I have never heard of, and did not authorize any charges from them. Upon calling the number that my credit card company supplied, I could not get a connection. I filed the claim as fraudulent and closed my account.
I did some searching on the internet and found that the 2 companies have done the same thing to other people. The Grant University is selling or giving credit card information to other companies, which is ILLEGAL! We need to do something about this!
