February my wife was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) a neuromuscular diseases that has made her unable to work our income was cut in half. July 18 I had a total hip replacement surgery that kept me off work until October 1st I return seventeen days later I was told my job was eliminated due to department cuts.
October 18 I came home called homeq advised them of our situation and asked for a modification of our monthly payments since I would be collecting unemployment only to be told by a service rep " that's not homeq problem you signed the mortgage if you cant pay the payment you need to find another job and if you don't find one paying the same as the old one you need to find two jobs" she then discontinued conversation by hanging up the phone.
Our mortgage payment at the time was $1040.00 we manage to come up with payments sent on the 15th of the month by money gram late fee's was added. I found new job around the end of January making $6.00 per hour less after play catch up for the next year with all our bills and late fee's to homeq we thought we had caught up only to find out our monthly mortgage was going up another $340.00 in January from $1040.00 to $1380.00 December due to the high foreclosure rate in the metro Detroit area reps from mortgage lenders came to Detroit to try and work out solutions for people who are in danger of foreclosure / ARM mortgages that are scheduled to rise this past January.
My wife and I talked to Mr. Ricky Chandler Vice President of collections told him of our situation he called homeq on his cell phone when he got off the phone he stated "your mortgage will not go up it will stay at $1040.00 for five years in that time you will need to find a mortgage lender to refinance your loan to a lower rate paper work for the so called modification arrived for my wife and I to sign via FedEx we sent it back only to get our February payment of $1380.00
