My October Visa statement was charged $29.95 by FRIENDFNDWD. Since I didn't have a clue who or what this company was and never authorized the charge, I immediately disputed the charge through Visa customer service representative. Now my November Visa statement has another $29.95 charge from FRIENDFNDRWD (note the addition of the letter =R= preceding the last two letters).
I phoned their billing department @ 888-575-8383 (220 Humboldt Court, Sunnyvale, CA 94089) to ask how Friend Finder got my credit card number and to provide me with proof that I had requested monthly service from them. Like other consumers who have experienced this same aggravation with Friend Finder, the billing rep I was speaking with asked for my credit card number so she could 'research my account'. Told her there was no way I giving out my credit card number over the phone. Like any other reputable company, she could research using my legal name, physical address, phone number, etc. Not that it would make any difference since I don't have an account with them to begin with! The rep then advised that since I wouldn't give her my credit card number she would be unable to help me cancel the monthly charge for their services.
So... Like other frustrated and highly irritated consumers, I am being forced to cancel my current Visa account and request a new account, new cards, etc. Since this is apparently the only way to stop the recurring monthly charge from Friend Finder. I have spent two days sorting out a mess that I didn't create. I am also going to file a complaint with my state's Attorney General.
With the number of complaints being posted by consumers world-wide about Friend Finder, I find it incomprehensible that they continue on with what seems to be an illegal, not to mention unethical, business practice. What can be done to make them cease & desist and held accountable?!!!
