I noticed a charge on my credit card for $134.99 for "Friend Finder" and a foreign transaction fee of $4.04. I had never heard of Friend Finder so called my credit card issuer. I was told this charge was for a subscription and I had to call the number given on my statement to cancel it.
When I called the number, the person on the other end of the phone refused to help me in any way unless I gave her my credit card number - she didn't ask my name, address, or any other information. I declined. I asked her if this situation occurs often and she said she would "not give out that information".
When I called my credit card company (Bank of America) back they had already refunded the charge leading me to believe this is not the first time it has happened. I see on complaint that it has in fact happened to several people.
I have no idea how Friend Finder got my information. When I googled them my internet security flashed up a warning for their site. I am looking into where to report this so that something is done about it.
