Luxury Auto Sales
Taxes, Tags, Titles, Lies

I purchased a 2002 chevrolet avalanche from them on Sept. 19. Before purchase, months before, I told them there was a crack in the windshield and that it made some type of noise when you drive it. The sales gentleman at that time was Tom Causey. He explained to me that everything would be taken care of. They assured me they would fix the noise and get the crack repaired or replace the windshield. Because I liked the truck so much I kept in contact with Luxury Auto Sales to let them know I wanted to get the truck. We drew up paperwork, they ran my credit and told me my down payment would be $3000. I told Tom I would be there in two weeks to give them a deposit of $1000 to hold the truck. Two weeks later I'm back and Mr. Causey was no longer an employee there. My new salesman was Pedro Rodriguez. Pedro explained to me that Mr. Causey no longer worked there and my file was gone that I would have to have my credit ran again. I was a little hesitant on that because I didn't want anymore points on my credit, but he ran it again so we could make sure the down payment was still $3000 and it was. I gave Pedro $1000 down to hold the truck, he told me that they would move the truck off the lot so no one else could look at it. It would be parked onto the side. I told him I would be back in two weeks to give him the next $1000 and then two weeks from then for the final $1000. When I came back to give him the second down payment I had the rest of the money, the full $2000. My truck was still parked on the lot, he had it out and buyers were looking at the truck. When Pedro saw me he looked shocked that I was there. I asked him why the truck still on the lot and why were people looking at it. He explained that they were just looking that it was my truck because I put down the down payment. Then he asked me if I was ready to put down the next down payment. I told Pedro I was I had the final down payment. He introduced me to Jason Brown, who is the "manager" of Luxury Auto Sales. Jason asked me for the $ I gave it to him, he gave me all the paperwork to fill out. Then he asked me if I had another $1000 because one of the banks fell through and my deposit is now $4000. I told him I didn't have another $1000, when I came here I was told my deposit was $3000 if the bank fell through then I should've been notified before I put that first $1000 down because once you put down the money its nonrefundable. He kept saying the bank fell through and there was only one bank who would finance me, which was credit acceptance. Jason Brown asked me if I could call someone to get the $1000. I told him no. I was told $3000 thats all I have, I came here two weeks earlier with my final deposit, I don't have another $1000 to put down right now today. Jason said I could not take the truck with me today. Jason knew my situation with my other vehicle I had that it was inoperable, he also knew that I had a co-worker drop me off there because I was getting the truck today. Jason then proceeded to tell me he would try and work with me, he asked me if I had insurance. He said if I could get insurance now it would knock some money off because I was insuring the truck myself. I told him I had geico and I could call right now to get this truck insured. I called geico and got the truck insured then it was another problem from there. He did not want me to get the truck without paying him that extra $1000. But, because he already said I could then he had no choice but to follow his word. I still had to pay him the $1000 if I wanted the truck, but that day I could take delivery if I had insurance. I drove the truck off the lot that day. The gas light was on and the truck was empty. I called Luxury and told them there was no gas in the car. Jason told me to take $20 of my own money and put in the gas. That when I come back to give him the final down payment to take out $20. Over the course of time I would call Luxury Auto and tell them about the noise and ask when can they set a appoitment with the mechanics. I was given the run around. Jason told me he would call the mechanic then call me back. It's been about a month now and I'm calling Pedro to let him know that my temporary tags are about to expire. Pedro comes to my job and gives me new temporary tags then writes the new tag number and expiration date on my temporary registration. October is here, I have the new temp tags and I still have yet to see the mechanic. I've called Pedro on his personal phone, I've called Luxury Auto, I spoke to Jason Brown to ask them when can I see the mechanic because the noise is getting louder and worse on the truck. Jason assures me he will set up an appointment the following week on tuesday, that he would call me on monday to confirm it. I also ask Mr. Brown and Mr. Rodriguez about my windshield. Jason told me he could make some calls about my windshield. I told Jason that every place I been wants to charge me $150-$250. Jason said that the person he would set me up with I would have to pay $100, then he called me right back and told me $125 at the most. I told him that was fine when can I get it fixed because $125 is better than all the other offers. Once again Jason said he would call me back so he could call the guy about the windshield. Jason never called me back about the windshield nor that mechanic. I called Luxury Auto to speak with Jason and I was told that he was not in the office and he would call me back. Mr. Brown never called me back. I went up to Luxury Auto several times because calling was not getting me anywhere. I was getting the run around, when I would come up to Luxury Auto I was still being lied to and being made to wait. Because I was waiting on Jason Brown another sales associate came to me and told me Jason would not be available for about 30-45 mins, then Jason would call me himself and tell me he would not be back to Luxury til 1hr later. October 19th and my tags are dead. I called up to Luxury Auto again and told them my tags were dead. I ask Jason and Pedro whats the hold up with my tags. Jason tells me there's a problem with my title. I asked Jason if I could transfer my tags he tells me no because I can't put tags on a truck from a car. Then he tells me I had to have Va tags then transfer my tags to DC. I ask Jason if I could go to the DMV myself to get my own tags and he explains to me I paid them to get my tags. I told Jason its been two months now and I have yet to get my hard tags. He told me he would work on it til then he would send Pedro to meet me so I can get paper tags again. I met Pedro at this restaurant called Phillips around 8 and 9:00pm to get my paper tags. The tags were good until November 17th not the 19th like all the other tags were. Over the course of the month I had taken my car through inspection and was told by the gentleman at DC inspection, that I would not pass because of that crack in the windshield for me not to waste my time. I took his word and went to Luxury Auto Sales talked to Jason Brown to let him know that I went to DC inspection and was told I could not pass that I needed to get the windshield replaced. He gave me the same response about calling his guy and setting the appointment. I again asked him about the mechanic because now the noise is getting louder, its making a squeaking noise when i accelerate and when I put the car in Drive and Reverse it makes a loud clicking noise. Same story he would call his mechanic. November 14th my tags are about to expire, I called Jason on his personal phone which he called me from several times and explained to him I need hard tags. I cannot have paper tags because I work at Ronald Reagan Airport and thats a security issue if I have paper tags. I have to give my tag number to Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority (MWAA) so they can have my tags in their system and I get a parking pass from them. They have worked with me since day 1, I told MWAA everything that was going on with the dealership and they understood and told me to just keep them posted and when I get my hard tags to come to them immediately and give them my new tag number. Jason told me he would he would send someone on monday to go to the DMV to get my tags or he would go himself if he had to. Jason Brown calls me on monday and tells me that the DMV was closed. He would take care of it on Tuesday. I then explain to him that my tags will be expired. He said he would bring me paper tags again. It had been all day of waiting and still no tags. I called Jason several times and I called Pedro but they both told me they would bring me tags. That night Jason Brown told me that they would get my tags the next day tuesday the 18th of November. Tuesday Jason calls me and tells me that they can not get my tags because because I never took my truck through inspection. I told him that I tried to but I could not because of the windshield and I had been waiting on him to help me get it replaced like he said he would. Jason then went ahead to say that he never said he would replace it for me. I said I didn't ask you to replace it but to help me and set me up with the guy who can replace it for $100-$125. He then told me no it would not be $125 it is $175 he never told me $125 that he could not get it done for $125. He told me he would get me temporary 5 day tags or transporter tags so I could get everything done and take my car through inspection. I waited once again all day and all night on Jason or Pedro to give me my tags. I told them I could not move the truck because my tags were expired and I had to be at work at 4:00am. He assured me I would get some type of tags so I could drive it to work, get my windshield replaced on my own since I found a place who would replace it for $150 and get the inspection done. I also told Jason that I had gotten a parking ticket of $30 for expired tags. He told me not to worry about it he would take care of it. When I met up with Pedro to get my tags to make a copy of the ticket, give it to Pedro and he would take care of the ticket for me that it was not a problem. Luxury Auto Sales closes at 8:00pm. I called Jason over and over waiting for my tags. He told me he was working on getting me the 5 day tags so I could take care of everything within those 5 days. He never called me back. I had to call him over and over, I felt like I was being brushed off and pushed aside. He told me several different lies. I called my mother to explain to her what was happening. She called Jason while I was on her other phone so I could hear everything he was saying and Jason Brown told her the complete opposite of what he told me. He told her that since I did not have the inspection done there was nothing he could do. He could do nothing that night, even though he told me he would bring me tags tonight. He told my mother that he would do what he could tomorrow but because I did not get the inspection that he could do nothing. I told her to ask him what about the 5 day tags or the transporter tags he told me he would give me and he said he was not giving them to me that night. She then proceeded to ask him did they call me and tell me that they were not coming because I was waiting on them to come and at first he didn't say anything but when she asked him again later on in the conversation he said no. There was nothing that he could do for me tonight and he was trying to help me which were all lies once again. She told him that she would have to take further action because their business was basically faulty and they did not do anything they said they would. She said we would be contacting our attorney and he told her to do what she had to do. They hung up and she told me that no one was coming to bring me tags and for me to call Jason. I called Jason and he told me that I could not get any tags tonight that he would give me something tomorrow but until then there was nothing he could do that night. The next day I go up to Luxury Auto after work and Jason was not there after he assured me he would be there first thing in the morning when they opened up at 10:00am. The other salesmen told me Jason would be back in 30mins. I waited for Jason, then Jason called me and said that he would not be there for 1hr then that hour turned into 1hr 30 mins then that turned into 2hrs over the course of our conversation. He kept telling me I needed to go through inspection then he could get my tags. I asked him what about the 5day or transporter tags and he stated that he was going down to the DMV at that moment to see about the 5 day tags. I told him that I needed some type of tag to drive so I can go and get everything taken care of myself. He then said he was not giving me anything that I needed to go get that inspection done. I told him I would get it taken care of tomorrow. Jason told me that I could drive the truck on the expired tags because it was just a few days old that I would just get a warning from the police for driving on expired temporary tags. He also asked me if I had the old tags from my car which I told him I did and he said I could put the old tags on my truck to drive it so I can get my inspection. I drove my truck through inspection with the expired temporary tags. Once I went through inspection and passed I went to the DMV because Jason Brown told me I could get the tags and registration myself then they would reimburse me for everything I paid. I'm at the DMV and because I do not have the title I cannot get the hard tags for my truck. The lady told me that the dealer can come up there bring my title and I could get my tags that day. I called Jason to tell him what the DMV said and he said he could not do that because he gave my title to the bank 30 days of me purchasing my truck. I then asked him well how was he going to be able to get my tags tuesday and not thursday. He would not answer my question. He proceeded to tell me how I can get my tags. I told him I knew how to get them because the lady at the DMV told me how to get them. My question to him was how was he able to get my tags tuesday and not thursday? Whats the difference between now and then. He still did not answer, he began raising his voice at me and telling me I did not want to listen on how to get my tags. I tried to explain to him I know how to get them. At this point I knew Jason was not going to answer my question and I told him if he had to turn my title into the bank within 30 days of me purchasing that truck then the two months I been getting temporary tags he had no intention on getting me those hard tags. He could not get those tags for me after the 30 days of me getting the truck. He's now yelling at me and I hung up the phone. The lady at the DMV told me I could get 45 day temporary tags and she began to tell me what actions I could take to report that dealership. She told me if I had any more question to give her a call. She expressed her apologies and informed me that she has heard several complaints about Luxury Auto Sales. After the DMV I went to Luxury Auto to speak with Jason who was not there. I talked to the gentlemen Noel who expressed he was beneathe Jason. I told him everything that was going on and he was very apologetic and empathetic to my problems that I was having. I told him all I want now is for them to make an appoitment for my truck so I could get the noises fixed. He called the mechanic and gave me the mechanics name and number. I asked Noel how was it possible that they could have gotten my tags tuesday but not thursday. Noel told me that they deal with over 100 tags a month and Jason probably didn't look at my file to see that my title had been sent to the bank already. He said if I get the tags and registration myself he would give me the money back on what I paid for. I paid Luxury Auto $235 for taxes, tags and title and they did nothing to get it for me. I don't think they should get any of that. They will give me what I paid for I think I should get my $235 back because it will only cost me $170 for my tags and the $13 for the 45 day temporary DC tags. I asked for my $20 for the gas I had to put in the truck when I purchased it and still did not get my $20 back. Luxury Auto Sales have put me through a lot of stress. Things that they were suppose to do I had to do it. I still have yet to get my truck fixed. Now Luxury Auto is telling me I might have to leave my truck with the mechanic and with the warranty I have I can get a rental car and they will reimburse me for the rental car also. Well with my insurance I'm covered for rental insurance also. I would like some actions taken against Luxury Auto. The mayor of DC, Mayor Fenty has closed down over 200 dealerships who sell lemon cars and dealers who take advantage of people just to get their money and do not keep thier word. I think the mayor or govenor of Va or Arlington should look into doing what Mayor Fenty is doing on DC.
