I recently received a letter from Consumer First citing I was already approved to receive a Platinum card with a $5,000 line of credit and ro $40.00 one-time processing fee, I can receive this card. As I read every word on the letter, it contained everything a vulnerable consumer would want to hear... No credit check, already approved... Etc.
As a consumer, i always make a habit of doing research before making any kind of investment. It is typical that a legitimate credit card company will require a credit check, ssn, all pertinent infiormation to verify income, contact information (phone number, address) and all of the information regarding the conditions of the card's benefits, i.E., rules, interest rates, etc.
Never will a legitimate card company demand you invest before purchasing. You will be billed the annual fee upon approval after submitting and having that application processed. Research - always - before investing.
This habit lead me to this site, and immediately I ripped up the letter and rid the problem without investing a penny.
