I received a letter from a Larry Benson (promotions manager for Global Financial And Security Trust) stating that I had won the De-Lotto American Shoppers Lottery. He enclosed a check for $4,875.00 and says in the letter to not attempt to use check until you call.
The letter stated that I had won $125,000.00 US dollars. The sole purpose of the FIRST CHEQUE is for the payment of applicable Government Taxes on your big winnings. The tax amount is USD $2,875.00 to be paid either by Western Union or Moneygram directly to the tax agent.
I called Comerica Bank after investigating on the internet, they said they cannot verify the account over the phone, but could deposit the money and ask the bank to put an extended hold on the funds. I thought about it and just decided it is not worth it.
What makes me MAD is how did they get my name and address. This type of scam should be stopped by whatever means necessary. If I had not looked this company up on the internet, I would have thought it was real. I am not a wealthy person so this money would have really come in handy.
How many hard working tax payers have already been taken by this scam or others.
