Rented a car from Dollar through Orbitz they didn't require a credit card — figured out why later! I called to confirm reservation and fee of $43.88 for 2 days rental and cost of GPS (10.99/day). I asked if there were any other fees or taxes that I would incur; they said no.
My husband picked up the car and was asked if he wanted full coverage or liability insurance he chose liability because they didn't give him the option of no insurance. My husband not having experience with rip off artists didn't realize he could just say no! He wasn't told there was an addtn'l fee of $41.90 for insurance.
He was also convinced to purchase gas at 15 cents less than local prices. He asked what happens if he doesn't use a full tank of gas and was told he would only be charged for what was used (LIE). It's on the pink contract that you DO NOT get charged for what you use.
My husband believed what the person at the counter told him and signed away on the pink contract! BIG MISTAKE on our part!!!
At the end of the day, our charges for our two-day rental were $177.00 suppose to be $43.88 the extra taxes and fees were $39.06
I called them and they disputed my claims and said, "It's on your contract that you signed."
TIP: ALWAYS read your contract because people will lie to you!!!
