This report is about a company called Escape to Paradise with whom we signed a contract to sell/advertise our timeshares. What a bunch of rip offs!!! A friend and I purchased some timeshares a few years ago, which was totally stupid in the first place. But... We have tried a number of strategies to sell them, to no avail.
Over a year ago we discovered a company called Escape to Paradise, who claimed they were in Newport Beach CA. They totally guaranteed us that they would have them sold for us because of all the millionaires in the area; we're smart enough to know there are no guarantees, especially when paying them up front to advertise/sell the timeshares. So we reluctantly fell for their convincing line of bull; that's what desperate people do and they prey on such folks!
Talked to them w/in 24 hours and they already had potential buyers; we were amazed! However there evidently were no such people. They said they would call us every single day with updates; they have called maybe twice in the year, only because I kept bugging them. They even get hostle in the tone of their voices and have hung up on me!
One of their lines was that they would recoup every dime we had paid other companies to help us sell the timeshares - because "that is illegal for a company in FL to take money up front to sell/advertise sale of timeshares." That is a quote! Guess what; their affiliate office is in Florida!!! Therefore, I feel they violated the FL law.
We've tried to dispute with credit card company because this company violated a number of statements in the contract. The credit card company has at least listened but have done nothing to this point.
Escape to Paradise is required to provide contact information for each and every inquiry. Now they state such information is confidential. We have contacted them numberous times to make changes in the ads; to no avail! We have contacted them numerous times because we never could find our timeshares in their ads! And get this... All those millionaires in Newport Beach? They advertised on their site (which we still can't find), AND... The Penny Saver... And The Thrifty Nickel!!! Like millionaires would even look at those??? You have to be kidding me!
The salesperson's name was Sebastian. They won't even let me speak to him. Daniel gets in the way and he was arrogant. Next it was Matthew who is the one who hung up on me.
We just want our money back; frankly it should be with interest, especially in light of the present state of our economy. Hard to fathom how our government bails out companies who, like Escape to Paradise, basically rip off the consumer. Who's gonna bail us out? Perhaps this consumer complaints will help us recover our losses. Considering we had a number of timeshares, believe me; it was a chunk of change!
