SCAM Yes the $300 gas card at a cost of a one time fee $1.95 is a SCAM

I was called and consider myself a savvy person. I was called one time while I was away from home. My mother answered and got all excited about the deal of a $300 gas card and then a phone card of some kind. The lady caller wouldn't deal with my mother because she had no credit card.

I got the news than evening and brushed it off considering the way I purchase items and the way legit companies know how to contact me. I am not a phone person and I research everything, plus I am never home.

So a few days later I was at work and my mother called me (three way) with the lady on the phone. She was a forceful repetitive robotic person who had an accent from goodness knows where. I was at work handling other things and rather busy, so I was not in the mood and went to being forceful to let her know who was boss. This is a tactic I have used time and time again proving that I will get what I want and do not live in constraints.

So we went back and forth over the questions I was asking and her repetitve dead end answers that were anything but answers to my questions. I then asked for my favorite people - supervisors. The whole time my mother remained on the line. When she went to speak she would get run over by the caller lady. So the supervisor was just as much help - thick accent, if not the same lady as the first, and very forceful. She ended up with a credit card number and the expiration date. Then I was to be connected to the cordination department in the next patch through of lines. They were very strict about just $1.95 being charged to my account and verifying the remainder of my information in the next person/patch through. So I was going to hold, but heck, I wasn't done interrogating.

I hung up and forced them to start over. I got the spelling of the name and looked it up on the work computer. I wasn't permitted a phone number, but they would give a location of Arizona. So that suited me. I searched randomly and saw the scam warnings. That was when I hung up again. The lady called back and I firmly said I was no longer interested.

She continued to call my mother until I managing to get the line free and call my mother to tell her to tell the caller off. As far as I know I didn't get any more calls.

I did call my credit card company ASAP after the torture ended. I did the proactive thing and let them know what happened and to watch out. They documented my call and were there 100%. I suggest everyone else do this aswell.

As a note, I was smart and knew that I had protection on the card I gave minimal information on. I did that in order to gain some trust from the EZ One people and to gain the location of their office.

For others - always google stuff you question. Know that something is fishy when they won't let you call back or they will not give a number without you giving your card information. Keep in mind that they may not make sense. I heard it was a one time offer about ten times. Strange - they called my house a few days prior for me and tried to use my poor niave mother, then they went for me about three times after hang ups and all else. I would call that more than one time of offering.

And last of all, keep in touch with your credit card companies. They like work and are glad to protect you. If you are like me and test scams - make sure at least one has some kind of ID protection on it.

Be safe.
