Rented a supposed "Lakeside Cottage", at 1695 State Highway 30, Mayfield, NY 12117. Through VacationRentals.com from Jean Quinones. The description of the rental was a beautiful Lakeside Cottage on The Great Sacandaga Lake, NY. I have copies of several emails that I corresponded back and forth with Jean Quinones about the ammenities of her property. I searched for a vacation rental on a lake with a sandy beach and dock for our boat. The property popped up by searching for lakefront properties. Since the house was described as lakeside; I asked for more information. Jean described the property as 25 feet away from her beach access. And we could rent a dock for our boat from her neighbor next door. Because although she was building a dock after 3 months her dock was still not ready although it was supposed to be. WHAT A HORRIBLE VACATION RENTAL! The house was on a noisy and busy highway. We could not open windows. We could not sleep. The lake was over 600 feet away!!! And you had to walk down a gravel road and then onto the grass of some ones house that was actually next to the rocky and muddy lake access. Actually the grass area was so muddy that we lost our shoes and turned back. The lake access is 10 feet wide with no path and no way to walk around. Other owners area are clearly marked and to walk around in order to get to the lake is trespassing.
I finally got to the lake after 600 feet but the small area owned by Jean has big rocks and tree roots. I had told her that the beach access was most important to me. I brought my grandchildren and wanted to spend time swimming at the beach. That never was possible. The 10 foot area was impossible. Complained to both Jean and vacation rentals. I demanded the ad be corrected. After alot of finger pointing. Neither Vacation Rentals or Jean Quinones have done anything! More renters are continueing to be deceived. The rent was for a lakeside cottage 25 ft from the lake with a sandy beach; that we could spend the day at. And the dock rental was so far away and expensive.
Also we had to keep our boat moored in deeper water. Paddle a smaller boat out to the mooring then take the boat to the dock. It was ridiculous. You had to step through 5 ft of water then step up onto the dock. And we had to drive our car because it was way too far to walk or carry stuff to. We rented the property for 10 days but leave 3 days early. And in order to get back our deposit we had to clean and wash all bed linen and remake beds. And true to form we have not received our deposit back yet. J Quin has not returned our money or emails or calls. And Vacation Rentals is making alot of excuses.
Vacation Rentals has yet to pull their ad or correct it. Vacation Rentals has seen the deceptive information and emails that Jean sent us. And I took over 30 pictures of everything. We would never have rented the home not on the lake. We spent way to much money just to be on the lake. Call me don't get taken from Jean Quinones or Vacation Rentals! Pam 845-494-3878
