Having quit my job 10 weeks ago & being denied 2 times for unemployment this winning check came at the most crucial time. How glad i would be to have $4875.00. This check is supposedly part of the winnings of a lottery drawn on 7-4-08. The letter with the check instructed me to send $2875.00 to "the tax agent" to cover taxes. This was my first clue something wasn't right.
I attempted to call the number listed to arrange for the rest of the money to be collected the message said "mailbox is full" i then called information for a number of the company in philadelphia, pa. No company found but the bank it was written on had a number. I called this phone number only to get an error message, "this code does not exist". I came to the internet & found many scam reports on this company. Luckily i have always felt if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
These people should be prosecuted, many people probably fall into the trap then owe more money than they can afford. It's sad we live in a world where this kind of event happens, the scam artists make money & the consumer is made the fool & the responsible party, for having faith.
I will turn my check over to the county sheriff dept. & continue to live broke & fight for my unemployment. How ironic, i quit my job because my paychecks were bouncing & i am fighting for unemployment then i receive this scam check. If i were writing these checks i would be arrested. Where is justice???
