Countrywide Home Loan modification screw ups

My story begins with trying to get a loan modification on our mortgage since November. Our rate was due to adjust. We have never been late. Unfortunately never being late on our mortgage became a punishment. We did all the requirements Countrywide asked of us. Sent in financial statements and hardship letter. We heard nothing. We called several times to inquire the status as our rate had already adjusted now going on the second time. We got the same story they never received our stuff "please do it again". We did it THREE different times. Finally in June of this year we were approved for the modification did all that was required of us once again, and sent in the certified check. Which we were told we wouldn't be late on anything. The end of June we get a call stating they never got our payment. I then said you need to check again I sent it back in the Fed Ex envelope they provided. She then got back on the phone and said oh yes I'm sorry we did receive and on time.

We then start to get phone calls at home and at my job. Several phone calls and they all sounded like they came from India. All these phone calls were stating we were late on our payments and when I questions and stated we weren't and our payments were made they then started calling and me at work telling me thank you for my payment because they must have read the notes on the account. I was reassured over and over throughout those many calls that nothing had been reported to our credit report. When I got home from work the other day I opened this letter from Countrywide. Much to my surprise it was a default letter stating we were like 2 months behind on our mortgage. I was livid knowing I have paid on time every month. I got on the phone and called the home retention department on this letter. I was once again told we have not been late. But I was also told that because of the modification our payments we being posted wrong and that our credit had been dinged. Once agian I was livid. I got apologies up and down and was told that they would fix the credit ding since it wasn't our fault. I was also told our negotiator was supposed to be tacking this account but apparently wasn't. I was told to wait a week and a half and call back to make sure the credit ding was taken care of. We have had nothing but trouble with Countrywide. I believe there should be more done than just fixing the credit ding on our report. I feel we are being penalized for trying to not default on our loan and trying to make things happen before that happens. I want to take this as far as I can.

Please if anyone has any suggestions or know how we can take this farther and get a fix loan for their mistakes I would love to hear.
