What a horrible experience! American lifan has no dealers in california! Anyone selling lifan bikes there are only selling counterfit lookalikes or selling them illegally. I went thru alot of aggrivation with gordon and his wife. I used filthy angry language with him in e-mails. They never use a phone. I really investigated them via the internet (i have investigator background) i talked to lifan's corporate office in dallas about them and am glad i actually got my bike finally. The bike i got says "gsc" on it and not lifan. They did not pay the liftgate fee with the trucking company and i had to go pick it up myself in order to have it by the weekend.
I know for a fact after talking to the legitimate dealer here in syracuse that gordon has no parts inventory and all the crap on his website is copied from his supplier named "golatta motors". They sell all kinds of chinese bikes and scooter and told me they sell to gordon. I am certain after all my correspondence with the whittet's that they have a small "jobber" operation going on.
I made all kinds of threats to them if i didn't get my bike believe me! It had some damage i fixed my self. It did come in a steel caged crate that i was impressed with however, the way the chinese send them. I did get it registered but probably cause the girl at the mvb was fooled by the title.
Always go to the "american lifan" site for a list of dealers in your town if you want a bike. I liked the bike very much but no dealers here want to service it cause they have no parts. Repairs could be lengthy from non lifan service places. Use a credit card only when ordering a bike on line; that way your band can pull they money back for you. Don't use a debit card!
I sold the bike real quick withonly 300 miles on it and now have a honda. I couldn't go over 50mph on this 250cc bike cause it felt unsafe and it's not really a highway bike. I needed a 400cc one and finally got a 750 honda which doesn't move in the wind.
