I'am currently a full-time student at CTU in North kansas city, Mo. I'am in the surgi-tech program and taking anatomy and physiology for the second time as i did not pass the first time with a D. When i came back for the second 11 weeks i was informed that the program had changed due to several students getting caught cheating on the final exam in the first term.
Now we all have to sit in alphabetical order, a seat seperating each student, no study guides are allowed, the professor does not get to lecture on the chapter until after the test, and the students who got caught cheating got to retake the final and have moved on the anatomy and physiology 2. I have gone through the chain of command from the professor on to the president of the school and got no help whatsoever.
Today i started going to a tutor to help me pass anatomy, along with some other students. We didn't know what to tell her to help us study and she didnt know what to help us study because nobody can know what is on the godforsaken test!!! The tutor went to one director, Dr. York about what she should do to help us study for the final exam and such, his response, " you just tell them that they need to read the summary after the chapter, then read the chapter and make sure they read the footnotes before the chapter. She was still just as confused as we were on what the hell to study!!!
We feel like we are just being set up for failure, why would you not have a lecture before the test? Why the hell are the students who cheated on the final still there? I don't believe they have our best interest at all in mind. And why does a director have his hands so involved in a class that he doesnt even teach? The school catalog clearly states that cheating is cause for dismissal.
I, along with several other students, have been working my a* off and studying till my mind no longer wants to function and getting nowhere. I print off quizzes and study guides off the resource website in the book to study by, but alot of the things that they ask on the test are not even on there. Our own professor says that he doesn't even get to see the test, and he gets the test handed to him in a manilla envelope on the morning of the test right before class. Then he gets to lecture after the test on the chapter that we just had a test on. Now you tell me how that's supposed to help me?
I transferred from another school to get a better education and all i'm getting is a bunch of smoke blown up my ass! No one can seem to give me a straight answer about anything that i ask, all i get is circle jerks ran around every question that i ask. I'm beginning to think that this school is just a big joke. Had i known that this is what it would be like i would have never joined.
I'm 41 years old and i feel like i'm in high school and being treated like some adolesent child who can't follow directions. And why am i being punished for something that other students did, but they get the pleasure of moving forward. THEY GOT REWARDED FOR CHEATING, there's no other way to say it. I think that this school needs to be investigated on how they function. This is in no way, shape, or form, fair to me or any other student in this program.
I"m paying alot of money for my education and i expect to be taught by a professor and not just the book, Their job is to teach me, not throw me to the wolves so to speak, but it feels like right now their job is to set me up for failure!!!
