Telecheck Services Outright fraud by Telecheck

Had 3 Men Movers pack and deliver my girl friend's belonging to their storage facility in Houston. Paid for the storage with a check for $79, no problem Telecheck. When I paid the movers, that same day, with a check for $1,800 in was rejected. I called the 800 number and was told Telecheck rejected it because there was no phone number attached to the account. Total "BS", but I then gave Telecheck's service department all my information. They reassued me that if the merchant resubmitted the check it would be honored.

So the movers resubmitted. It was immediately rejected. I called the 800 number again only to be told that my Bank of America checking account had been closed. Strange, becuase I had just check the account balance by telephone not 5 minutes before. BOA had verified that I had over $6,000 in the account. All attempts to talk to Telecheck's service people were futile. They read from a script and have no idea what to do if you ask questions not in their script.

In frustration, I hung-up, went to the local BOA branch, withdrew $2,000 and paid the movers cash. What I did not realize until I went to cash another check at Sam's Club, was that Telecheck had locked me out on all check approvals everywhere. Numerous calls to Telecheck again proved fruitless. They were right and I was wrong, period!

At this point, my only out was to go to my local branch of BOA. I told the manager, that if BOA had reported my account closed, "it would be". The manager contacted the main office of BOA in New York. On speaker phone she inquired about my account. We were told that the account was definitely open and still had over a $4,000 balance. When asked if Telecheck or anyone else had accessed my account for verification, in the last 30 days, their reply was "NO", absolutely "NO".

With these facts in hand, the BOA manager contacted Telecheck customer services. Telecheck had the nerve to argue with the Bank manager about whether or not my account was still open and active. It took that manager almost 10 minutes to get the Telecheck person to admit that Telecheck had never actually verified my account with BOA or anyone else.

The service rep for Telecheck finally relented and removed the hold on my account. However, that same Telecheck rep was quick to state that this whole incident was "not" Telecheck's fault. Obviously, the moving company had entered something wrong and it was their fault.

A registered letter to the president of Telecheck, reviewing the facts got me a telephone call from his support staff. The woman was quick to state that none of this was Telecheck's fault. I asked to see what if anthing was in my file folder at Telecheck. I was told that once "they" resolved the hold on my account, everything was disposed of. So, she just admitted to destroying any evidence of their wrong-doing. How corporate of them to destroy the evidence after I spent my time and efforts to correct their error. Someone needs to take these people to count for outright fraud. These people need to be in JAIL.
