Privitization of Personal Records Results in Fee

In order to maintain the proper appearance and be knowledgeable of you appear in databases, you must know what other people are looking at. A credit report is free and work has been done in the legal system to ensure we have FREE ACCESS to our own records. Unfortunately, I am being screened by an employer who will request a copy of my driving record / driving history.

In order for me to try to make things right (if there are any issues) I decided to find out my points and violations ahead of time in order to defend myself in this situation. Being that police officers screen my license plate to find any wrongdoing when I drive my motor vehicle, I find that it is a wrongful practice and places me at risk.

If I am aware of how I appear, then I can rectify any issues ahead of time in order to protect myself in these 2 types of situations. The part that I think is ridiculous, is that you MUST investigate "how" and when you figure out how to obtain this information on yourself, you MUST pay $20 for that information.

I see a strong similarity in the right to know you're self in a database or record between credit and drivers license score. However, I see that one will cost you money while the other will not. This information should be either (a) restrained from ALL persons unaffiliated with the Department of Motor Vehicles, or (b) shared with the individual it represents just as freely as it is available to law enforcement. It is our right to our own information and to not be in a "trap."
