I made the mistake of applying to this job online recently and then the madness began. They called me, emailed me and had some sweet voiced girl Jamie invite me in for an interview.
When I pressed for more details regarding what they do, she was skilled at ending our conversation and moving on to get off the phone. I have 17 years experience in sales making 80-100,000 a year in an industry I was burnt out in, so I was looking for a legitimate change.
I went to the so called interview and saw many twenty somethings sitting around, nervously slicking hair back and fumbling with resumes. When I entered the "Managers" office a young guy John, awkwardly greeted me. I felt immediately that this was a huge mistake as his questions were canned and scripted. He really did not ask me anything about me... Just why was I there.
Once again he avoided questions and then he was trying to get me out of the office when my intelligence obviously trumped his ten times over. When I asked him direct questions he looked at the sky. He said he would call me back for a SEMINAR type meeting and would call by day's end. I told him that I was not interested in scams and was only interested in a legitimate opportunity.
Seminar group meetings in my book... Were often the latter. Ironically, they were not interested in a sales rep who currently works for a fortune 500 firm making what I made. When I shared this story with friends over the weekend, a friend's husband said "That's a multi-level marketing scam." I began to research it and felt someone should warn people. Stay away!!!
