This will sound as though I have a wild imagination but this really happened to my daughter & me. My father passed away 3-30-06 totally un-expectedly. I flew home to bury my father with my 14 year old daughter. My 14 year old was reared by myself and her step-father of 10 years. For various reasons my now ex-husband and I were having extreme marital issues. The biological father of said child is a non child support paying, non citizen, (arrears of 80,000.00plus dollars). Never kept health insurance, never paid medical bills etc. My daughter ask if she could return to florida
after the funeral (It was her spring break) to stay with her step-dad and when he was not available a reputable mother who agreed to take full responsibility for her. I didn't expect my daughter to feel the pain nor grief I was experiencing because she did not know her grandfather well. I communicated with my then husband and he said no problem even though we had already been in contactwith a divorce attorney. On Thursday night I get a phone call from my daughter who is crying hysterically. Her step dad called hrs, dcf, and the police and said I had abandoned her!!! Furthermore the non child support paying estranged biological father was there to pick her up. I told her to call the police. The Policeman got on the phone with me and stated the above accusations! I caught a flight from Ohio to Florida @ 4am Friday morning. On Saturday after one investigator examined the accusations and found nor merrit in them therefore my daughter was returned to me on Saturday. My daughter went to the beach with her friends and I remained home exhausted, grief stricken, overoverwhelmed, & wondering"what just happened"? There was a knock @ my door. There stood a young, smug, power hungry, dcf female investigator. She ask of my daughters where abouts and ask for me to contact her to return home so we could put this to bed! Stupidly and without thought I told my daughter she needed to leave the beach and return home. I had done nothing wrong so what possibly could happen? I sat down with this vile, un-informed, investigator and she proceeded to tell me of the false allegations in addition to the abandonment charges. This is the goooood part. I was accused of drug use and drug trafficking for the head of DCF and her husband. This ignoramous actually implicated the head of DCF and her husband without knowing! Her sources spelled names wrong but they did get the place of business that I on occasion would frequent correct. The accusations were vast & in abundance. My daughter walked in the door shortly after my being informed of such outlandish allegations. Three police cars arrived and my daughter was told if she did not go with the dcf investigator the police would take her! She screamed, cried, held onto me for dear life and I had to see my daughter taken off by a un-informed dcf worker, and a poor excuse of a biological father, (criminal record, non child support paying, middle eastern, fascist)! Sunday an emergency hearing is called before a judge. I was ordered to take a drug test immediately - results were negative, then given a stack of papers as well as orders barked to me by the judge who was awakened for the emergency hearing. Mean while I walk outside only to watch my daughters sperm donor play footsie with the dcf investigator. I was told I had to leave my marital home or I would never see her again. Well the Step father got what he wanted. Step-daughter out of the home, soon to be ex-wife out of the home and the sperm donor got paid by the step dad and perhaps laid by the dcf worker. Against my better judgement I left the marital home and secured a furnished residence within 2 weeks! Passed all drug test yet was not allowed any contact with my daughter. The female dcf investigator and her BOSS from tallahasse came to my home. Boss man was there to clean up miss ignoramouses mess, orders from the top. He didn't want to talk about the accusations that indicated Mrs. Head of dcf or her husband. We talked for well over 2 hours and Mr. Boss man could give me no answers! I had to get an attorney even though my funds were rather exhausted as a result of securing housing that my daughter was accustom to. I was then assigned a case worker who is an angel. Miss Melony knew my daughter and me for what we are. Miss Melony also knew my now ex-husband for what he is and the Sperm donor for what he is! I jumped through all hoops, to many to name! Even Miss Melony had to fight for justice and almost lost her job because she would not back away from the truth! Thousands of dollars later (my daughter's college fund) gone, court date after court date and finally i got my daughter back. I had to admit to being the offending parent but of course the allegations about running drugs for Mrs. & Mr. Dcf vanished! I am not a perfect parent but I have always taken very good care of my daughter. The sperm donor will take care of his girlfriend and her daughter but could care less about his first born child (in contempt of court now)! The Step-dad lost something very precious, the love & admiration of a gorgeous, god fearing, spiritual, young lady. So in short I lost my Father, My home, My cat, temporarily my daughter & my poodle, my belief in the judicial system, Yet I gained extreme respect from my daughter for fighting for her! Miss Melony it is my prayer that you receive many crowns of Glory for fighting for me & Miss congeniality! Since the time of the above horror story it has still been an up hill battle to say the least. Raped in the divorce financially, No child support, and my daughter was involved in an accident resulting in a broken neck, but guess what? We have each other! No one can take the sacred bond I have with miss congeniality, furthermore there is a worthy man in our lives that is highly regarded in my daugters eyes as to what a "Dad" truly is. As my daughter told her step father goodbye from the heart she went on to say any man can call himself Dad, but a real mans actions speaks louder than his words!
