I purchased a 2006 Lexus IS250 from GA Car Mart on June 2. I was told the car had never been wrecked and that it was still under factory warranty.
I ran a Carfax prior to purchasing and all that showed up was a "title issue". After driving the car home to Alabama, a friend in the car business looked it over and expressed concern. He told me to run an Experian Autochek, and when I did so, it revealed that the car had been "announced at auction as frame & unibody damage."
The dealer also agreed to replace the worn rotors, but then came back into the office and stated that the car was still under factory warranty, so as soon as I got the title in my name, I should take it to the Lexus dealership to have them replaced. He told me to make sure that the title was already in my name before taking it to the dealership because if Lexus knew that it was purchased from a used car dealer, they would not want to honor the factory warranty. Not only are rotors not covered under warranty, but I am not sure the factory warranty is even valid considering the damage.
Now I am reading online that Georgia is the worst place to buy a car, as the laws favor the seller in these situations. I just made a $25000 investment and am terrified.
I also found another complaint for the same dealership when writing this one!!!
