GAIL NICHOLS DVM, was arrested on a F-2 Felony for assaulting her retarded brother, had over $30,000 in IRS tax liens filed, has lost her driver's license for failing to comply with dog licensing and care, is a known animal abuser, and is guilty of neglect resulting in the death of multiple dogs.
Gail Nichols DVM of Lakeland, Florida was arrested on an F-2 felony for beating her retarded brother and she even locked the home's refrigerator to deny him food! (see copy of Sheriff report below) Gail Nichols has many breeds of dogs listed under her Windsome Kennels and over an extended period of time, Gail has had numerous entanglements with the area animal welfare agencies for multiple violations of care and licensing. She even lost her driver's license owing to repeated animal violations.in addition to this her F2 felony arrest for BEATING her retarded sibling, Gail has multiple IRS tax liens of over $30,000.00 filed for her non-payment of income tax! She is a collector of many breeds of dogs and currently has whippets, Italian greyhounds, Chinese Crested, and greyhounds. Gail has AKC bred dogs and her kennel name is 'Windsome.' She buys, breeds and sells large numbers of dogs annually. Gail Nichols has lost several dogs through neglect and has had them locked in inadequate buildings with no air conditioning where the dogs perished due to extreme heat. This is a horrible way for an animal to die. A favorite ruse that Gail Nichols engages in when she loses a dog to neglect, is that she then tries to blame the breeders of the dog alleging unsubstantiated 'health problems'. Often a well-meaning or unsuspecting breeder will then send Gail another dog and the cycle starts over and repeats itself. Only when a pattern is established, do breeders become suspicious, but usually only after the deaths of several dogs... Gail lives at 3211 West Bella Villa Ave in Lakeland, Florida. Her neighbors can verify the on-going abuse of her brother and of the animals on the property.
Consumers should be made aware of Gail Nichols as she works in the employ of other veterinarians in a large area around Lakewood, FL, Reportedly, she is unable to sustain a legitimate veterinary business of her own, so she often works as a "cover" or relief vet for other veterinarians. Licensed Veterinarian Arrested for Abuse of Disabled Adult
Polk County Sheriff's Special Victims detectives arrested a local licensed veterinarian, who lists herself as "self-employed" and apparently does contractual work for local vets, for abusing her adult brother with whom she lives.
Gail Nichols, DOB 3/21/51, of 3211 West Bella Vista Avenue in Lakeland, was taken into custody without incident Sunday, February 6, and charged with Aggravated Abuse of a Disabled Adult (F-2).
The affidavit states:
The victim, John Vansickler, is 48 years old and mentally disabled due to head injuries sustained in a traffic crash. Nichols and the victim have resided together for approximately one year, and the suspect is the primary care giver. She is also a licensed veterinarian. On February 5, detectives observed the following injuries on the victim: scratches to his cheeks and jaw, a laceration on his right forearm which had been stapled shut, a bruise on his forehead, and swollen and discolored ears. Further medical examination revealed 3-day-old to one-week-old bruises about his torso.
Witnesses and the victim provided consistent, sworn statements regarding the victim's injuries. The victim stated that Nichols abuses him when he "does not do his chores", which he says consists of cleaning and caring for her large amount of dogs. Detectives observed a locked refrigerator, and the victim stated that Nichols would also not feed him as punishment. The bruises and laceration were sustained when Nichols used a broken metal broom handle to strike the victim about his shoulders, back, arms, sides, and thighs. Nichols treated the laceration with antibiotic soap, an ointment, and stapled it shut. Nichols told her brother that, if asked, he should say that he fell and not to tell anyone about the abuse.
Nichols is being held in the Polk County Jail under no bond until her first appearance hearing this afternoon at 1:00 P.M.
