Last year my wife was struggling with her high car payments and we decided we would go to Courtesy Ford after having bad experiences at other dealerships, we thought that Courtesy would be different and they were at that time and got her into another car with lower payments.
A few months later I went back to Courtesy to look at some cars purely out of curiosity and while there got talking to the same salesman as before, I told him I wasn't too happy with my cars gas mileage and he asked me what other vehicle I had in mind and I mentioned a Ford ranger. Weeks went by and he called me to tell me he had one I might like so I went by to look at it, it was nice but I told him the only way I would take the 2004 Ford Ranger in exchange for my 2007 Suzuki SX4 would be for lower payments, he let me have the Ranger for the weekend and on the Sunday I went back to the dealership where I went through the procedures with the finance manager and sure enough he got me lower payments and free oil changes for life, a good deal I thought.
After a few days he called me and told me that the deal had fallen through but he could still figure something out but I would have to make one high payment to give him time, the payment was $100 more than I had been paying on the Suzuki, 2 months went by without me hearing anything and I was due to make the next payment so I went back to Courtesy to find out what they had come up with. I was told by the finance manager there was nothing he could do and that I was stuck with the higher payments and no free oil changes and thats where I am today, I lost a new car with 3000 miles on it and got an older truck with 50,000 miles for higher payments that I can ill afford.
I tried to get something done with the Better Business Bureau but that was a joke and I don't know which way to turn.
Why would I trade in a 2007 car for a 2004 vehicle with higher miles for higher payments? I was cheated and trapped in order for Courtesy Ford to make another sale.
One last point when I picked up the truck it was very clean and shiny but 3 bulbs were blown which I had to replace, a skid plate is missing and there is smoke coming from the side of the engine after driving for a few miles.
