Knuckle Up Fitness
Rip off/scam

When I registered with Knuckle Up Fitness, I was looking for a new place called home. I was new to the area, and wanted more information about the gym. The representative who had sat with me was very polite and understanding.

I, a US Air Force veteran as well as military spouse, explained to the representative that I am prior military and my spouse is still in and at any time, I could be leaving the area and going to where my husband was located. He explained that would not a problem at all as he is also a military service member himself, and understood the situation.

The only reason why I chose a gym was because there was not a close Air Force base gym that I could go to for free. The contract that was advertised to me for a discount was for three years. The rep knew I wouldn't be around for three years but said, "All you have to do is give us something in writing. Not a problem at all."

My husband was assigned to Europe in 2005. During that time, he has been deployed twice, serving his country, leaving me behind. I prepared to cancel my membership as my husband is home in Europe. 20 February, I emailed the required document and did not hear anything in return.

I waited nearly 3 weeks and didn't hear anything - so I called back. The young lady explained that they did have my paperwork and I had been granted my cancellation but she could not give me an exact date yet because her boss was hard to get with. She said she would call me right back and give me the cancellation date. Nearly 5 hours passed and I called back, but no answer.

I wrote an email to her explaining how unprofessional the situation was as I had been waiting since Feb 20 to hear something from them. I guess she didn't like my email and responded back that my paperwork was denied. It was strange how all I was waiting for was a date to hear that my cancellation was complete, to now its been denied.

I showed them orders with the information from 2005 - 2008 which are still active, and they declined my paperwork. She said that I knew of these orders before hand from 2005 and they do not count. I emailed back that my husband has been on two deployments and how it left left me alone.

I am trying not to pay 50.00 for the next 2 and a half years if I am not going to be able to use it. They do not stand by their word, as there was no issue with my paperwork at first. I have thought to just change my bank card information but I am worried that they would ruin my credit and leave a total of 1372.00.

Kimmy Davis is the rep who deals with cancellations, and she explains that her CEO as well as herself are always busy. She emailed me to call a phone number to speak with a rep.

I called and left a message, and another rep called me back leaving a message that Kimmy would call me back to do what she could. She didn't call, she emailed and still explained denied because "you already knew of these orders."
