Hi, my name is Valerie from Valdosta, and here is my story, I started work for Pizza Hut on September 21. This was the light of my life and I ws excited to start working. The first couple of months were great I was learning so much and enjoying it, but just as sure as a fairy tale ends it became a nightmare.
My Area Manager decided to leave I don't know if this was a warning of things to come, By Feb I had a new Area Manager and his name is Mike Shivok and he came in with the thaugt of him being GOD and he wanted everyone too bow to him and this just wasn't happening. My Manager Danett did all that she could to assist him in the areas that she could and no matter what she did h would always find a way to humiliate her. He would talk down to her and make her cry and this was something that I couldn't deal with so I stated to Mike that when ever he affends Ms. Danett he affends the entire Management team and I didn't feel that was right.
He would never say anything to me, Mike told Ms. Danett things like if Valerie throws another fit, that she needs to get prepared to have more managers in the store so that she couldask me for my keys. This is something that bothered me. I asked if Mike had an issue with people of color at that time neither one of us knew what the problem was, So later on down the line Mike really showed himself. He wanted certian people out of the restuarant and it started with one of the black assciates and from there it all went down hill, Ms. Danett walked off of the job due to Mike stating that shen was being punished for not doing what he wanted her to do so, e told her that she needed to stand in the freezer for her punishment and, so after her stay in the freezer he told her that she had to sit next to him and not say a word, After be humliated for more than 4 hours, Ms, Danett decided that it would be best if she just left. She walked out and called m to inform me of what happened. As of the week of Thanksgiving I had to do the work of the Assistant Manager and the Manager during all of this I spoke with Mike several tiimes asking him about the posistion of the RGM, at first he would give me no response and then h stated that I (Valerie) wasn comfortable in my position and I stated that I would like the oppurtunity for the position. He stated that I needed to step up my game in order to get a raise. I was already ahead of the game and he just didn't want to give me a raise.in the meantime I was working any where from 58 hours a week to 67 hours a week with over time being at $1.00 for every hour that I worked over time.
As time went by Mike hired another manager for the store and he put her into training in the Live Oak store, the RGM of Live Oak and his management team stated the lady was hired as an assistant manager for the West Hill location.By the way the young lady is White, now during all of this time Mike knew that he had hired her as the RGM and that he wasn't going to give the store to me. A young stong Black woman which is me. Mike had some problems with some of the other black employees, one by the name of Kia he just didn't want her in the store when he first came to the store as the Area manager he stated that he didn't want her or Kari working in the store he felt that they weren't Pizza hut material, being African American really didn't help the situation either.
Mike wrote Kari up for not being on time for work on two occassions, and then there was another associate by the name of Beverly in which she is white, she wasn't written up for her actions of no call/no shows and coming into work late. I told Mike that if he is going to write Kari up that he needed to write up Beverly and there was no response, so when Beverly was a no call no show for 3 days I terminated her as Job abandonment. Mike Terminated Kia as Job abandonment and that was a lie.
Then there's Ms. Renett she has been employed with Pizza hut for almost 20 years as a server and she may have received 2 raises.
As for myself I was suspened on Feb 8 for an incident that happened on Feb 7. I was arrested for something that had nothing to do with Pizza Hut and I was available to return to work the following day, but Mike stated that he needed me to write a statement of the situation and I did as he needed me to do. He stated that needed to speak with Brian the HR rep for our location.
I waited until Monday Feb, 11 and I called Brian myself to see what his decision was and he stated that he couldn't make any decisions and he asked me what was aI talking about and I told him about the situation and h stated that he needed to speak with Mike. I called him back to give him some more information and he stated that they needed to do another background check on me, and that was fine, but by the next day I called Stoney Jones which is the Reigional Manager over Mike, he stated that I would be off for the next two days and Mike should b calling me to set up a time for me to filll out the paper work, Mike called and I met with him on Tuesday Febuary 12 @ 4:15 P.M.
Now I took Stoney @ his word so I waited out the 2 days and there were no phone calls so I called Bruce in the corp. Office and I asked him what was going on and he asked me what I wanted him to do, as I told him I just want answers about my job, and I told him that the young lady that was now the RGM was terminated from other employment for not following the correct banking proceedures. I received a call from Brian @ 2:58 P.M. He was rather upset with me he was yelling asking me why would I try to get Mike and the new RGM into trouble by calling the Bruce, haven't I spoken with enough people. He asked me how did I find out that information about the new RGM and I told him it was trough someone that use to work for the samecopy that she did. He wanted the name of the person and I felt that wasn't any of his business, I told him that I just wanted to know the process of my back ground check and why it wasn't completed yet. He stated that they had to get someone else to do the back ground check because the person that normally did it wasn't available. I stated so it will take another 48 hours and he stated yes. This is bull they just want m to use up all of my vacation time, and Mike doesn't want me in the store with his new white RGM. This is discrimination and I want to speak with an attorney so that I can file a charge against NPC INTERNATIONAL and Mike Shivok.
