Alicia Sullivan Baumstein, formerly of New York and currently living in San Francisco, is the most atrocious workplace bully I've ever encountered.
Alicia Sullivan Baumstein seems to be a functional illiterate: she can not write as well as the average American first-grader, can not spell at all, and does not even have the good sense to try and get some much-needed remedial help for herself, yet when I worked with her, incredibly, she was responsible for producing some written communications that were so bad they became an in-house joke.
Anyone would think that someone as inept as Alicia would attempt to keep as low a profile as possible in order to fly under the radar, but Alicia Sullivan Baumstein chooses instead to zero in on other employees, put us down, call us names, point fingers at us, and even berate us in front of other people, the more the merrier for her, all over minor offenses like not doing something fast enough for her almighty liking. Alicia wasn't my supervisor and had no business asking me to do anything for her in the first place, but then was running around the office where I worked with her, trying to brand me as an "incompetent" because I didn't do her a favor fast enough!
Someone in the office said, "Alicia grew up privileged. She's used to ordering servants around - that's what's wrong with her. That's why she talks down to people like we're all pieces dirt."
Maybe so, but I was not hired to be one of her "servants, " and neither was anyone else in our office.
Alicia Sullivan Baumstein is a workplace disaster waiting to happen. I caution anyone who may be misled by Alicia into considering her as a competent employee to choose anyone else for the job. Any bag lady on the street would be better qualified for a job than this woman. If I knew when I worked with Alicia all of the things that I know now about on-the-job harrassment lawsuits, I would have filed a monstrous suit against the company in general for allowing Alicia to get away with her non-stop vicious little harrassment games against other employees, and then I would also have sued Alicia in particular for being the agent of so much needless grief, emotional distress and pain.
No company needs an Alicia Sullivan Baumstein on their hands.
