I was employed with The Roomstore for 2yrs and 9mths. When I first started with this company it was great. It was a normal call center as any other I had been in before. I was first a regular phone agent, then was trained on how to key and complete tech reports, however; over time things begin to change for the worse.

Many employee's started to get tired of how they were treated, the upper managers always preaching about what we need and should be doing, but the upper management never showing the example of what they constantly were preaching to their employee's.

At one time we lost 3 people in customer service and it was hard for all us adapt that we had lost 3 people w/in about 2 mths. We also had a great assistant manager by the name of Chris, but we lost him as well, he had moved to another position of The Roomstore.

And due to this, Gail Coley was put in his place as Assistant manager. She was in charge of interviewing agents to replace the 3 we had lost due to poor employee treatment. We had "so many" people come in and out of the Roomstore doors it was pathetic, it was sad and put a lot of stress on the agents that were trying to handle the whole east coast (there are only normally 12 agent and we were only 9 at that time).

No one wanted to work for The Roomstore because of all the stress that was put on them on the daily basis and the little training they were given and then thrown on the phones and were expected to act like they knew what they were doing. There was a long period of time we could keep no one for more than a couple of months. I have seen one agent that had left and said she had to go the store and never come back because it was so bad and stressful.

Imagine handling irate customer all through the day and then have the managers on your back at the same time. There was always one individual that always tries to run everything and thinks she is perfect in everyway and think she does nothing wrong, "Gail Coley"!!!

She is a 2 faced person and a "so called Christian". She smiles in your face when she wants to hire you and get you in the call center then afterwards she wants to criticize you about what you are doing wrong. All the phone agents that have came and gone, and even the ones still there now have seen her do some cruel things to the employee's. And I myself, now, am a victim.

I and others have seen her show favoritism to her (Amber, which just was recently employed) niece and to one of her good friends she goes to the lake with as well. Her niece has only been with the Roomstore for about 2 months I believe and she has gotten away with more then any other agent would ever dream of and why? Because her Aunt is "Gail Coley" and when something has been said about Amber doing something wrong, Gail just brushes it off and ignores it. Talking about unfair treatment and favoritism.

While all of us get 15 minutes follow up in the morning to try to catch up on work from the previous day, guess what, Amber is up over at her Aunt Gail's desk talking about unrelated and personal life issues while everyone else is at their desk working, but yet nothing is said to Amber b/c she is the assistant managers niece. Or in the afternoon when we are given another 15 minutes for follow-up, Amber once again has her computer off, talking and not doing any work unlike her other co-workers.

Amber has had 2 extented leaves for lunch for a hang toenail and to go to the doctor, but when another agent there asked for a extented lunch leave because her Mom had to go to the hospital all of the sudden, she was told "no" by no other than "Gail Coley" How unfair this is and we all saw this.

We all have seen this going on but yet nothing has been done about this. We have seen her monitor people's personal calls even when they are not on break or lunch and then calling them into the conference room and address the phone calls and try to tell people who they should or should not be talking to as if she is a counselor. Its even gone to the extreme of how much time a individual spends in the bathroom.

She sits on her phone all day talking to her husband or son or someone that isnt a customer of The Roomstore about irrelevant things that don't pertain to The Roomstore. But she sends all of us a email that Jesus said that we are stealing time away from our employer by sending junk emails and not working!
However, she talks on the phone all day to her family and friends and looks up things on the internet that dont pertain to The Roomstore.

But this is what takes the cake.

I have been a good employee as I said, for 2yrs and 9mths. I have worked very hard at this job and assignments I was given to handle, anyone there can verify that for me, even my supervisor Linda. But my job had became so stressful and things I have seen gone on over the period of time that I had been there were getting unbearable and I knew I wanted to better myself, for my kids and me.

I had applied for a job at the Health Dept.in Nash County and was called for a interview. I later learn I was going to be offered the position once all the paperwork had cleared. I had 4 vacation days left and 1 Day of Choice (DOC) left. I knew that I needed to request these days off before leaving and turning in my notice because if I didn't I would loss them as I had it seen it happened to many people before me. They turned in there 2 or 1 week notice and later tried to put in for the vacation days and was told they could not use them b/c they put their notice in.

So I had requested these days I had left during this month of October. Gail speculated that I was quitting but never said anything to me directly about this. I heard she had told some managers that she thought I was leaving but was not for sure completely. After I had all the vacation and DOC days scheduled and approved by Gail Coley, later I turned in my resignation on Oct 19.

I first sent it to all the managers to inform them and I appreciated the opportunity to work with the Roomstore, however, another window of opportunity had opened for me that I would be pursuing. I was congratulated by everyone, even by Scott Harris (Head of the Distribution Center) except Gail Coley.

Instead of Congratulations, I received a question "Why would you want to leave the Roomstore"? That was so funny because I am thinking to myself, because of all the things I have seen gone on around here and how certain people get away with everything and we always get downed for everything and how I was underpaid for the amount of work I had to do on a daily basis, there were many more reason as well. But I responded to her, " Better pay, Better benefits, early retirement and no working on the weekends".

What more could anyone ask for right! So then in turn, Gail has the nerve to ask me "How much more money, a little more or a lot more"? I am thinking to myself, this lady has no right to ask me this, it's none of her business how much more. I responded to her "a descent amount more". She said, "Well if it was 35 or 40 cent more it really probably want be worth it", I said, "No, its more than that".

I believe she is scared I am going to make more than she does and hates the fact that I am going to better my self while she is stuck at The Roomstore. Nevertheless, I worked the rest of the days I was scheduled down for after I turned in my 2 wk notice, except for today, Oct 27. I wanted to leave The Roomstore in good standing as any good employee would want to do.

I received a call from Gail yesterday (Friday) that I didnt need to report to work on Saturday because it was taken care of and squared away. I asked her what about my pay though, she replied, I would not be getting paid and they no longer needed me and this was a "Personal Business Decision They Had Made". I was upset and replied this was nothing unusual for the Roomstore.

Afterwards, I drove up to the Roomstore to go talk to Mrs. Gail Coley and I was told by Cindy Taylor (office personnel) that I was not allow to come into the building, even though I was still currently employed by the Roomstore. She said she already knew what this was about and said she would get Gail if I wanted to talk to her, so I told her I did. She went to get her and came back, then told me I was "allowed' to go into the building and to go to the conference room. I went upstairs and while walking through the door Gail was standing in Mike Lingenfelter door and then walked over to the conference room and Mike looked at me but "never" intervened, I am sure he knew what was going one.

I told Gail that what she was doing was wrong, that I was on the schedule to work tomorrow (Sat.) and that I need my 8hrs and the money for me and my 2 kids. She said "I am sorry, but this is a personal business decision we have made and we have the legal right to tell you not to come in tomorrow since you have turned in your notice and this is best for the business/company.

She said, "We have already replaced you with someone (of course she has, I trained the girl that would be taking my place once I left). I told her she must think we are all stupid and don't see the things they do to people and why does she think so many people come in and out The Roomstore doors. I asked could I get my personal belongs and she told me "NO", that she would have someone to pack them for me.

She later brought me personal items in a box. I was missing my personal papers, so I called Gail upstairs on her extension 242 and asked her about them, she said since I had printed them at The Roomstore, they were not my personal property but theirs and she hung up on me. I called her again and blocked my phone# and she answered nicely (a big front) and asked her why she hung up on me, she said "Christy, what do you want, I am at work. I told her I wanted those papers and she said I wouldn't be getting them and I told her fine I had a copy of them anyway.

Later, I learned that Linda was told to advise all the agents that if I called not to answer it. And I heard that today all the agents that work today, that they received a email from Gail, saying they were appreciated, yeah right!!! They dont appreciate anything you do for them and the moment you find another job they ignore you and screw you over anyway they can. They want you to bend over backwards for them but dont want to bend a little for their employees.

Gail Coley is conniving, backstabbing, 2 faced, grimy woman and manager. She thinks she is better than anyone there and they everyone is under her feet. As long as she is there and no one puts her in her place The Roomstore will keep losing good employees. You would think that someone would know something is wrong as many as people come and go up there, but I guess everyone is blind or something.

I hope anyone that reads this understands that not only might The Roomstore not treat their customers unfair but they also treat their employees unfair and wrong as well. Its said when you have to say that for a company that you had to work for but its the truth.
