I answered an advertisement for "first month's rent free." The Poinsettia Ridge management never informed me until the moment I was signing that my two bedroom was not the two bedroom that would get the free month. There was nothing in the ad indicating any difference between one two bedroom or another. I asked them to call their corporate headquarters to ask and the office rep said he didn't need to call because corporate would not do it. I told him I would write then. I wrote to the registered agent. They never wrote back.
When they sold out and changed the apartment name to Archstone Encinitas, Archstone gave me the runaround and said that they couldn't do anything about it [although they collect on the lease].
This sounds like bait and switch or just plain false advertising. I believe Poinsettia is run by Pacific Commercial Management, Inc.
