Complaint / Review
Eric C Adsit
Public notice: deadbeat dad

Eric C Adsit is originally from LaPorte, Texas. He was briefly in the military. Thereafter, he chose to work as a civilian in Korea and then live in Lakewood, Washington, rather than live near his 8 month old son in Texas. He remained out of state until the child was nearly 6 years old.

Now residing in Deer Park, he has refused to make child support payments or contribute in any way toward his son's needs such as school clothes, supplies, and sports activities. He has voluntarily quit his job (s) and has filed court documents to reduce his paultry child support so that he can attend college (he already has a college degree).

Because of his continuous harassment against the child's mother, and his refusal for years to be an active part in the child's life, a change from joint to sole custody has been filed against him. Since he moved back to Texas in late spring of '07, he constantly walks around with a tape recorder, dictating self-serving, non-factual statements. He forces the child to say inappropriate things into the recorder. He and his new wife videotape and harass the mother and her family, both in public and at their residences.

While in Washington, he filed false allegations with CPS against the mother (charges dismissed as unfounded) and risked having his son placed into foster care. He later filed a grievance against the CPS. Local police issued a criminal trespass warning due to his harassment at the mother's residence. He has filed a grievance against that officer. Police intervened in a disturbance he caused in the police station parking lot during a visitation transfer. The report specifically stated that he was causing emotional harm to his son. He has filed a grievance against that officer as well. He had possession of the child over the Labor Day weekend, from 6pm Friday until 6pm Monday.

Upon return he informed that the child had been running a fever over the weekend; he did not seek medical care. Upon examination by a doctor after the child was returned to his mother, the doctor diagnosed strep throat. The father was asked to retrieve the prescription from the pharmacy; he refused, stating that he had a lot going on at the time.

He is ordered to pay child support, which he now refuses to do. He is ordered to carry health insurance - his new wife is carrying it for him. He is not working - his new wife is. He is living with his new wife at her parent's house. His family owns businesses and it is suspected that he is working for them, off the books. The AG's office is not assistance. The mother must now pay an attorney, wait months for a hearing, and most likely watch the judge allow this offender time to catch up on payments.

Non-payment of child support should be a criminal offense in Texas, without the need to return to the family court judge to pursue it. A letter to Governor Rick Perry rendered a response that said contact the AG's office ("it's not my job, but thanks for playing").
