I had a car I was unable to repair as I already have another in the shop. I began to search for a worthwhile organization to donate my car to, and I found Kars4Kids, that is promoting on their face page a free 3 day 2 night hotel stay for donating a vehicle to them. I thought this was a great promotion.
I did not submit my information online I called the phone number advertised and was given a local number. I called them and they took the car.
Two days ago I received in the mail my Official Receipt from Kars4Kids Federal Tax ID# 22-3746050 and a Certificate for my free hotel stay from Worldwide Travel Center located in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
As I read the small print I observed I was going to be required to pay $50.00 for something and I had to own a major credit card. I do not own a major credit card I do have a debit card, but these are not accepted.
Yesterday I called Kars4Kids about this problem explaining I am retired and disabled and do not have a major credit card, I was assured yesterday, this would not be a problem just ask for extension 204 and talk to Alice. I tried to make reservations today, they would not complete the reservation because I have no major credit card, so I asked to speak to Alice at extension 204, I left a message as she only had voice mail available.
Then I called Kars4Kids again and spoke to someone who attempted to explain to me they are not responsible for the policies of Worldwide Travel and it is in the terms and conditions, I beg to differ I was never told of any terms and conditions until I received the so called certificate in the mail.
I additionally do not understand how a $50.00 charge is incurred for a free hotel stay. Nothing on the Kars4Kids face web page says anything about needing a major credit card or $50.00.
I am a disabled former Social Worker, I live on Social Security, it is not much and a free vacation would be great but I still have to pay to put my dog in the kennel, gas in my vehicle and food. I did not expect it to be totally free but this is a rip-off by a international 501 (c) (3) charity organization called J.O. Y, Inc.
