When we first moved in (May) the air conditioner did not work and it took them two days to get someone out there.
They left many notices of non-payment of rent on our front door after they had lost our Payment Checks. This happened twice.
A branch from one of their trees fell off, went through the windsheild of our car, then about two days later, they had our car towed because it was not in working order... The man from the towing company told us that they were just telling them to tow anyones car they could, because they didn't want to have to pay them (The towing company was there to move all cars to one side of parking lot to have the tree cut down). There was NO notice at all given to anyone that they were doing this. They didn't even tell people that their cars were being moved. That's $250.00 they cost us, plus we missed work one day, because we walked outside and our car was gone. (We were about to call the police because we at first thought it had been stolen).
Our lease said that rent was due on the first and we had through the fourth to pay before late charges incurred. We both worked late the 1st-3rd (Wed-Fri) and we weren't going to leave the check in the drop box because they had already lost it twice before. So my boyfriend goes in on Saturday to pay it and they said we owed them $100.00 late fee. He asked them why (since we were supposed to have through the fourth) They told him that it was because the fourth wasn't on a business day, and it didn't count. He told me about this (after he paid them) and I went up their with the lease to show them that it said nothing like this. They then proceeded to tell me that late charges incur on the fourth. I asked them why they told my boyfriend something completely different, they said "he must have misunderstood" because the two sound so similar...$100.00 more.
We couldn't use the pool for about a month, because it had been shut down by the County due to its being "unsanitary". Our bathtub began peeling because they had painted it. Yes, the whole tub, and tiles on the wall. This was nasty and impossible to clean.
Finally, our lease is over and we move out. A couple of days later we got a Move Out Reconciliation Report, which stated that we had:
$95.42 in Delinquent Rent Due and
$46.67 in Delinquent Month-to-Month Fees Due
Plus our water bill: $25.68
Which brought our $150.00 refundable deposit to us owing them $17.77. This amount is very small, yes, but there was no way I was going to give these people any more money than I already had. It took me over a week to finally get it straightened out (I had to call about 10 times, was told I would be called back and never was about 5 times.)
When I actually got to go over the statement, I was on the phone with her for about a half an hour, while she tried to figure out why they were charging us this, and how she had come up with the amount that we paid in June ($262 for 7 days - she never figured that out, still a mystery, but I didn't even care about that). It ended up being proved that the two charges were fabricated and I was due a refund of $119.32. Thank goodness I didn't just send them the 17 bucks to just be done with it.
These people have no idea what they are doing, they are very unprofessional, and I don't know how they sleep at night.
