Forecast Homes, Inc & SC Design Poor Quality victimized many consumers

I bought a Legacy I home in Corona, CA in January. We had many service repair requests prior to moving in that did not get done until much later. We went though a few customer service changes, but finally got ahold of the Customer Service Rep. And he made sure that our needs were met.

My beef is mainly with the design center (sub-contractor) SC Design. We upgraded the flooring to ceramic tile (a $3,500 upgrade) and it was horrible. It was unlevel with many chips and the tile was discolored. After many weeks arguing with the design center they finally agreed to remove approximately 1/4 of the tiles. We went 2 weeks with holes because they didn't have enough tiles the right color. After getting the builder involved we argued another 6 weeks to have the floor completely removed.

The demolition crew that SC Design hired was supposed to cover and protect our belongings and it wasn't done properly. Our big-screen TV and stereo components were not covered and as a result were covered with dust. Our kitchen cabinets were scratched all over and demolished underneath.

Also, the tile installer would not start the project unless Forecast hired a grinder to level out the floor. The grinder crew found the floors to be "in tolerance" but obeyed.

Thankfully, Forecast's Superintendant (Eric) and Customer Service Rep. (Randy Enos) hired a cleanup crew and cabinet crews to repair the damage. (The cabinets are another story, they are so cheap, it's difficult to repair them properly.)

The re-tiling finally began, but by one guy who spent 50 hours across 6 days because I know that SC would not pay for another person to help out (the cheap bastards!). When he was done, no walk-through was done as specified in the contract set-forth nor was his tiling satisfactory. He put in many tiles with chips and they were still uneven. The tiles around the fireplace were not cut the correct size. The grout did not dry the same color even though it was all the same batch and done the same day.

After four weeks of complaining to the builder and the design center that someone needed to inspect the floors we finally put a sign on our fence that faced the models. We had a response within 1 day and 4 people from the design center and 1 from the builder in our house. SC Design is taking the stance that it is all within tolerance and looks good to them. So, if chips and uneven tiles with discolored grout is a 'good job', they need to be put out of business. Our next step is to have a third-party inspector to evaluate the floors. And if that doesn't go anywhere, I'm going to hire a lawyer.

Not once did we receive an apology from SC Design regarding the destruction of our home and they continue to blame sub-sub-contractors and Forecast for all our problems.
