I have lived at 26760 Hickory Loop, Lutz, FL. 33549 for almost a year. We rented the property ONLY because it had a pool and the rent was mabey a hundred less for other 3 bedroom homes without. (We had had a pool before so we knew the work and extra expense we were facing.)
Within the first month I notified Cal in writing that the pool, no matter our efforts, nor hundreds of OUR dollars in chemicals that the filter needed to be replaced. Otherwise there was no point, it would not be swimmable. Nothing.
In the same letter, I noted that the dishwasher did not work well. I rinse my dishes almost to the point they are clean and they were still unsanitary to eat off of. (Later found out through serial and model number that the dishwasher is over 12 years old with a life expectancy of 7 to ten yrs. Tops).
Nothing. Cal wanted first, last and security deposit to move in. $4050. We only had 2700, so he verbally agreed to let us make it up in increments along with the rent. He took our whole 3rd months rent for the security deposit which placed us behind for the rest of the lease and we started to recieve angry calls. We had other complaints like a leaky roof in which mold was starting to grow from the ceiling.
Nothing. Cal offered for us to make some of these repairs, including plumbing, roofing, replacing fixtures and lots more. Being very fair we came to an amount off the rent at about 900. Cal gave us 300 after a lot of shouting. I guess we had complained too much with the toilet leaking and all, Cal said he wasnt going to put any more money into the place until we caught up with rent.
What money? He said to get my receipts together and call on a certain day. I did. Nothing, I called back twice. Vi, his wife couldnt find it or didnt have any idea of what we owed, said she was 80 years old and couldnt keep up with it. After that we recieved an eviction notice. My first.
Well, the building inspector was here today and found 12 violations, from plumbing to electrical and things I hadnt even noticed. He has 30 days to fix these things at his expense or face a citation, which is $500 per violation. I dont owe Cal 1 cent. However, he owes me a summer with my kids playing in the pool, teaching my baby how to swim, the 10 lbs. I was going to lose swimming laps and all the hours I spent doing dishes in the sink away from my husband I never see and the time I spend on my hand and knees cleaning my bathroom floor, wringing out nasty towels because the toilet leaks and most importantly, he owes me my peace of mind that he has the audacity to make me worry about a sherriff coming to forcibly remove me and my 3 kids.
He just recently had the audacity to come try to clean the pool. He showed up out of the blue like several times before, no call, no notice, stareing at me through the window in my back yard. Scary and It's still green. No surprise. I dont know if this man was cheated and that is why he is so distrusting, but if you ask me I think its because he is not trustworthy and so he thinks that everybody else is a louse too.
Well we are not. I had to convice Vi for like 20 minutes that we had not paid like 2000 more this one time. She had us confused. Maybe that was a mistake, but I sleep really good at night, how about you Cal?
