Covenant Transport
Covenant is a rip off and they do not support the american military

I have been working for covenant for almost two years now. I work hard at what i do. And i am proud to be a truck driver, and most of the time i have no complaint but, i can hold my tongue no longer.

The problems started when i would get ready to go home. I am currently a member of the U.S. Army reserve and am a member of the 498th t.C.in mobile alabama. So i need to take time off to be able to do my mandatory drill assemblies and training days. I am a two time iraq veteran.

Everytime i try to go home for my duties they start throwing a fit about how i shouldnt have to go home. We earn one day a week of accrued time off. And it is hard when i can only stay out a minimum of 3 weeks to earn enough time to go home and do said duties.

They approve of the time off and say we will get you home ontime or early to make this priority. And then something happens and all of a sudden they cant get me home intime for my duty. Now the army has taken actions to make them do what is required for me to be home ontime for this. And when they get notice the army is looking at them they pull a "yes sir massa" and get me home for a couple of times then it is the same old ball game again.

Most of the time they send me the other direction of were i need to be and then say there are no loads heading that way. Or there is no truck in this area to repower or swap you so you can go home.

In one instance i was sceduled to go home. I had a load that delivered in central alabama that delivered at 1130 the night before, so i could leave from there and be in mobile intime for drill.

When i got to my fuel stop in knoxville, tn. They said bring the load to the terminal in dalton, ga. And we are going to have to bus you to mobile for this. I told them that would not do.

Seeing as it was 4pm and i had to be in mobile at 6am. If i had taken a bus, i wouldnt have gotten home till sunday morning or afternoon and i would have missed it at the time.

When i got to dalton i called in and talked to fred clause the supervisor and wanted to know what was going on. When i reminded him that it was a federal law that they had to get me home intime for my duties.

He responded by" well by buying a bus ticket that automaticly got us out of that law and personally i dont care about what you have to do now that you have declined it." but when i talked to my comander and my ua they said it didnt if they had offered it a few days earlier it would have but not a day before i was due there.

This shows how much they care about the military and a veteran that has put his blood sweat and tears into fighting for his country wich so "" love so much".

On another note. They do not treat the drivers well. Most people i seen working for them. Do not work today. I work hard and i try to make the best of what i do and who i work for. But now a days loads are becoming slower and slower. Pay gets worse each week. And the good people i work with leave and or disappear.

I will continue to work for them if they can get things straight with the military.

I am currently trying to get time off for the next drill on the 21st and 22nd. I have requested many times but they have given me no response. If i dont get one and end up missing again.

I will put forth all actions to bring them down. This is rediculouse i havent been to 8 out of 12 drills for last fiscal year and have missed some for the current fiscal year due to covenants screwups.

If you support the military and what they stand for you will not work for this company and please stand up for my brothers and sisters in arms in the usa, usmc, asaf, and usn, guard and reserve that work for this company. Thank you
