I really thought these guys were the real deal. After he pulled out the passport and the lighter to show the quality of the leather, I was sold! He got me on 34th and 8th Ave in NYC. They, Francesco and Luigi, pulled over and asked for directions to the Lincoln tunnel. Then pulled away and stopped quickly and came out with his Italian accent and the story of not wanting to pay taxes on the coats. Only difference is I made sure I protected myself in case they were in fact faux coats.
I turned his story into my own and told him that because of the Holidays and all the shopping me and my wife have been doing I would not be able to pull any more cash from the ATM since we reached our max for the day earlier while shopping. I told him I would give him $100 cash and a $700 check for 4 leather jackets. $800 total for 3 mens and 1 womens. He gleefully accepted my offer and I wrote him the check, gave him the cash and wished him safe driving to the airport, where he was on his way to catch a flight back to Italy.
As soon as I got back to my office I called the bank and cancelled the check. HAHAHA
So i wound up with 4 really nice, heavy genuine leather coats right before Chritmas for only $25 each. One for me, one for my wife, I sold one to my neighbor for $25 and I'll give the other as a gift as well. Like the other posting said, even if they are not reall Giorgio Armani coats, $25 for each is a superb deal.
Thank you Mr. Italy for being so confident in your scam that you let your guard down and got dupped yourself!
