Erroneously charged my Visa $1.00 then $39.95! Ripoff! No idea

When I opened my visa statement this eveninng I was shocked to see not one but two charges from this company I have never so much as heard of.

Calling the long distance number proved a waste of time, so I called my credit card company and disputed the charges of 39.95 and 1.00.

I suppose using the card number for bank verification on PAY PAL through EBAY exposed my card numbers to hackers?
This whole internet thing is getting way out of hand security wise.
