I was contacted by Prosper Learning, (Prosper, Inc.) and the sales rep told me I had been "selected" to participate in their real estate coaching program. He said they would only select a few to participate in their program and went on to ask me questions about where I am in my quest to purchase real estate. I stated that I had started to look for a real estate investment and he said with their program I would be coached to find a deal quickly, but ONLY if they selected me participate in their program. I told him I am a single women and could not afford to throw away that kind of money, but he convinced me over and over again that I would recover my $8400 within a very short time. After our conversation, he said he would have to call me back to let me know if I had been selected. He then called me a few minutes later and said, "You have been selected!" He was very persuasive to get my credit card information and charge my account immediately! After a few weeks passed and talking with their coach, I realized I wasn't going to make a deal anytime soon as they promised. I also had been attending local real estate meetings in my area and found out they were teaching basically the same thing and for a nominal yearly fee.in one session, the coach recommended I go out and knock on doors of people in foreclosure. I certainly did not feel confortable doing that! I felt like I had been Ripped-off, and I realized I needed to do something to get my money back from Prosper, and that they did not have some magical formula for purchasing real estate! So I wrote Prosper a letter voicing my disatisfaction with their service, and that I wanted a complete refund! I told them that I can not afford to throw away $8400!! I then filed a complaint about Prosper with my credit card company. I have since found out that many others were approached in the same manner by Prosper and were just as disgruntled with their experience as well. I think it is a disgrace that unscrupulous companies can get away with scamming people like this. I hope the word gets out before many more have to go thru this! To all of you, do everything you can to get your money back! Mary middleburg, Florida
