The AD was titled BIG BOAT in the barter section of Craigslist. It read "runs, floats, fun". I offered my 1988 Jaguar convertable to then in trade. They were interesested as I was in the boat, after numerous emails and conversations we decided to meet and work out a trade.
I came out to Lake Stevens from Seattle with my fully functional good looking but not perfect Jaguar and met with Tim and his wife Cathy, after a good amount of time and some discussion and Tim going thru the boat telling me about when the boat was last out and that if they didnt sell it that week they were gonna get her out for one last fishing trip I said if you would gureentee that the boat doesnt have any major problems and that you would trade me back if there were, his wife verbally gureenteed me that the boat was fine, it just needed a battery and maybe a little TLC form sitting.
I took their word for it and agreed on the deal with the assurance I would be able to get my car back if the engine was shot, These were may excat words.
So I got the boat home, put a brand new battery in it and went to fire it up, it wouldnt start, I tinkered around a little and then called a professional, then after waiting to get her in, the mechanic said "sorry buddy, but you got taken" the engine is bad and needs to be replaced or rebuilt.
I went home and made a few attempts via email to contact them to let them know the outcome and that I hope they live up to thier end of the bargin, and I have not recieved any replys back.in my opinion I got ripped of and scammed, so in my opinion it would be in your best interest not to deal with Cathy and Tim Hotchkiss.
