When my A/C stopped blowing cold, I used a referral service to locate an air conditioning repair contractor in my area. Within 5 min of receiving my email, I was called by an ARS Service Masters rep and an appointment was scheduled for that same day.
So far so good, right? Wrong. When the ARS Service Masters tech showed up, he told me he had never seen a system like mine before. After an hour or so of poking around, he told me I needed a new compressor. Cost? $1388.00. He told me I would be better off replacing my unit and that he would have someone call me the next day with the cost to do so. Before he left, he made sure to collect $79.99 from me as a "diagnostic fee".
Someone did call the next day. An ARS Service Masters sales person tried to sell me a $5400.00 unit to cool my 900 sq/ft condo. I told him to take a hike.
Through the town hall I found a contractor that was involved in the construction of my building. He came out and tested everything and found the unit to be in perfect working order. It was just low on refrigerant.
Stay away from ars service masters!
